I like the mix of design and biology involved in building a planted aquarium. The challenge is to make something that looks good and works as a living system, with plants, light, and water chemistry all in balance.

I enjoy exploring how to value financial instruments and assets, from equities and bonds to derivatives, real estate, and commodities. The interesting part is understanding what drives value, making the assumptions explicit, and seeing how the conclusion changes under different scenarios.

I enjoy the mix of technique and expression: working on timing and tone, then bringing a piece of music together. It's a satisfying way to practise something where the feedback is immediate.

I enjoy the combination of striking, grappling, and physical conditioning in MMA. It rewards attention to technique and staying composed under pressure. My training is on pause for now.

Books and essays are a big part of how I learn. My interests range from technology and finance to philosophy, including Aristotle and Thomas Aquinas. Some of my favourites are on the Book Recommendations page.

Watercolour is a good exercise in observation and restraint. I like working with colour, light, and the unpredictability of how paint moves on paper. Part of the challenge is knowing when to leave it alone.
